WhatsApp Business API

The WhatsApp Business API is the professional version of WhatsApp for businesses. It lets you send and receive WhatsApp messages through your helpdesk, with support for multiple agents.

The WhatsApp Business API is the officially offered interface by Meta that allows businesses to integrate WhatsApp into their customer service and communication tools. Unlike the WhatsApp Business App, which is intended for small business owners with a phone, the API is designed for teams that want to use WhatsApp at scale.

With the WhatsApp Business API, you can: answer incoming messages with multiple agents simultaneously, send template messages for proactive communication (order confirmations, shipping notifications, reminders), set up automatic replies, and connect chatbots for 24/7 availability.

The API doesn't work standalone but through a Business Solution Provider (BSP). You need an approved Meta Business Account and pay per conversation. There are two types of conversations: service conversations (customer sends first) and marketing/utility conversations (you send first), each with their own rates.
