Bounce Rate

Bounce rate is the percentage of sent emails that fail to deliver, for example due to an invalid address or a full mailbox.

Bounce rate measures the percentage of emails that don't reach the recipient. There's a distinction between "hard bounces" (permanent, like a non-existent address) and "soft bounces" (temporary, like a full inbox or server issue).

A high bounce rate damages your sender reputation with email providers, which in turn worsens deliverability for future emails, even to valid addresses. Regularly cleaning your list keeps bounce rate low.

Bugalou monitors bounce rates on your transactional emails and broadcasts, and automatically removes hard-bounced addresses from future sends to protect your sender reputation.
