Freshdesk is one of the most popular helpdesk tools, partly thanks to its free plan. But as your online store grows, you'll hit limitations: few store integrations, automation only in pricier plans, and no native WhatsApp support in the basic plan. Here are the best alternatives.
Freshdesk works well as a starting point, but online stores often run into these issues:

HelpScout is ideal if you primarily work via email with a small team. No tickets, no complex setup — just collaborate on customer questions.
Strength: Clean, quick to set up. Weakness: No WhatsApp, limited automation.
Zoho Desk is strong if you already use other Zoho products (CRM, Books, etc.). It has a free plan and broad integrations within the Zoho ecosystem.
