Getting Started with the Helpcenter
Learn how to access, enable, and navigate the Bugalou Helpcenter — your self-service knowledge base for customers. Available on Pro and Enterprise plans.
What is the Helpcenter?
The Helpcenter lets you build a customer-facing knowledge base so your customers can find answers to common questions without contacting your support team. Think of it as your public FAQ and documentation hub.
Plan Requirements
The Helpcenter is available on the following plans:
- Pro (monthly or yearly)
- Pro Trial (14-day free trial)
- Enterprise
If you're on a Free or Starter plan, you'll see an upgrade page with a summary of Pro features and a button to upgrade via Settings (gear icon) → Billing & usage.
Free Trial
If you've never had a subscription before, you'll see a "Start your 14-day free trial" banner. Click it to try all Pro features, including the Helpcenter, without commitment.
Accessing the Helpcenter
Click Helpcenter in the main sidebar. This opens the Helpcenter dashboard.
Enabling the Helpcenter
At the top of the page you'll find the Helpcenter active toggle switch:
- Green (on) — your helpcenter is publicly accessible. The label shows "Helpcenter active"
- Gray (off) — your helpcenter is disabled. The label shows "Helpcenter disabled"
Click the toggle to switch. The change takes effect immediately.
The Helpcenter Dashboard
The main page displays four navigation cards and a quick-stats panel:
Navigation Cards
| Card | Description |
|---|---|
| 📚 Categories | Organize your articles into logical groups |
| 📝 Articles | Create, edit, and manage your knowledge base articles |
| 🌐 Domains | Configure custom domains (e.g., help.yoursite.com) |
| 🎨 Branding | Customize colors, logo, favicon, footer, and CSS |
Quick Stats Panel
Below the cards, a stats panel shows three metrics at a glance:

- Categories — total number of categories
- Custom Domains — total number of configured domains
Recommended Setup Order

- Write articles — create and publish knowledge base articles
- Add a custom domain — connect your own subdomain (e.g., help.yourcompany.com)
- Customize branding — match your helpcenter to your brand colors and logo
- Enable the helpcenter — flip the toggle to make it public
