Growth Widgets
Generate QR codes and click-to-chat links to grow your contact list and start more conversations.
What Are Growth Widgets?
Growth Widgets are tools that help you grow your contact list by making it easy for potential customers to start a conversation with you. They include:
- Click-to-Chat Links — Direct URLs that open a messaging app (WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram)
- QR Codes — Scannable codes that link to any of your messaging channels
Creating a Growth Widget
- Navigate to Settings → Apps → Growth Widgets
- Click "New Widget"
- Fill in:
- Name — A descriptive name (e.g. "WhatsApp Flyer QR")
- Type — Choose between Click-to-Chat Link or QR Code
- Channel — Select WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram or Website Chat
- Phone/Username — Your channel identifier
- Pre-filled Message (optional) — A message that's pre-filled when the customer opens the chat
- Click "Create Widget"
Click-to-Chat Links
A click-to-chat link is a URL that opens the messaging app directly. For example, a WhatsApp link like https://wa.me/31612345678 opens a chat with that number. You can:
- Share the link on your website, email signatures, social media profiles, or ads
- Add a pre-filled message so customers don't have to type the first message
- Copy the link with one click from the widget overview
QR Codes
QR codes are scannable codes that contain a click-to-chat link. They're perfect for:
- Printed materials like flyers, business cards, posters and packaging
- In-store displays
- Event materials and trade show booths
- Product packaging
Download the QR code as an image file using the download button in the widget overview.
Supported Channels
| Channel | What You Need |
|---|---|
| Phone number with country code (e.g. +31612345678) | |
| Messenger | Facebook Page ID or username |
| Instagram username | |
| Website Chat | No additional info needed — uses your Bugalou chat widget |
Managing Widgets
- Activate/Deactivate — Toggle widgets on or off without deleting them
- Edit — Update the name, phone number, or pre-filled message
- Delete — Permanently remove a widget
Best Practices
- Give each widget a descriptive name so you know where it's used
- Use pre-filled messages to give context (e.g. "Hi, I saw your ad about...")
- Create separate widgets for different campaigns to track which ones generate the most conversations
- Test QR codes before printing to make sure they work correctly
