Chat Widget Behavior & Page Rules
Control when and where the chat widget appears — configure display triggers, device visibility, AI chatbot toggle, page rules, and branding.
Behavior Settings
Navigate to Channels → Website Chat → Behavior tab to control how and where the widget appears on your website.
Display Triggers
Control when the widget first appears to visitors:
- Show After Seconds — delay the widget by X seconds after page load. Leave empty for immediate display.
- Show After Scroll (%) — show the widget after the visitor scrolls X% down the page. Enter a number between 0 and 100.
These triggers help you show the widget at the right moment — for example, showing it after 5 seconds or when a visitor has scrolled halfway down your page.
Device Settings
Choose which devices show the widget:
- Show on Mobile — toggle to show or hide on phones and tablets
- Show on Desktop — toggle to show or hide on desktop browsers
- AI Chatbot — enable AI-powered automatic responses in the widget. Requires Pro plan and the AI Agent must be enabled globally on the AI Agent page (sidebar). When enabled, the AI handles conversations before routing to a human agent.
Page Rules
Control exactly which pages show (or hide) the widget:
- Show Only on These Pages — enter URL patterns (e.g.
/contact,/products/*) and click + to add. The widget will only appear on matching pages. - Hide on These Pages — enter URL patterns (e.g.
/checkout,/admin/*) and click + to add. The widget will be hidden on matching pages.
Use * as a wildcard to match multiple paths. Each rule appears in a list with a remove button.
Branding
- Show "Powered by Bugalou" — toggle to show or hide the Bugalou branding badge at the bottom of the chat widget
Click "Save Changes" to apply your behavior settings.
